First create a folder.
Put the mp3 and ppt into the folder.
Now open the ppt, click Insert > Music and Sounds > Sound from file.
Take note that this only links the music.
You want to have it play for multiple slides.
Select yes when asked if you want the sound to play automatically.
Right click on the sound icon. Select Custom Animation.
The "play" sound effect will be listed in the pane.
Double click on it to bring up Effect options.
On the effects tab, click the radio button beside Stop Playing after XXX
slides. Put 999 in the box so the track will play throughout all your slides,
even if you go back and forth among slides.
Check this out for further details:
"Play sounds across multiple slides (A WAV runs through it)"

If you choose to embed it, you will need to convert the mp3 into wav format.

Hi James

First consider opyright issues!
To insert an mp3

a. Put in the saved ppt presentation and the mp3 in a folder
b. Insert>movies & sounds> sounds from file
c. choose play automatically

Dont forget if you want to email or use on another computer you need to send
the whole folder!

If you want the song to NOT stop playing at the end of the slide > double
click the entry in custom animation pane and tick "stop playing after xx
slides" (insert number instead of xx)
