Does anyone know of a commercial software package that allows one
to convert an access 2003 report to a PDF file and then automatically send
it as attachment using outlook? We have a sofware package right now named
PRIMOPDF that can convert an acces report to a PDF but before sending it as
attachment one needs to save the PDF file first and this is really time
consuming,
ideally it would be nice that the moment the report is convert to a pdf file
that an instance of outlook is opened and that the pdf file is inserted in
the mail item
as attachment. If anyone has something similar then I would appreciate it if
you could give me some feedback. Many thanks.

I am not aware of one single package that will do what you want. However,
there are serveral methods for createing the PDF, including the naming of the
output file.

A search on "PDF" in the Access Reports newgroup will return several
suggestions.

Here is one link for greating the PDF. http://www.lebans.com/reporttopdf.htm

Once the report is saved as the PDF you will need code that will send an
email with the PDF you just created as an attachment.

As an alternative, you can output the report to an .rtf ..readable by anyone
with Word or Wordpad or (many) other word processors. The advantage is that
such output is supported natively in Access.

If you can hang on for the next version of Office, it is supposed to support
PDF.

I have built something similiar, I use Adobe Distiller as a printer
driver. You configure the Distiller to "Send" the pdf file to a folder.
I then set this distiller as the printer in the access report. The
first step I create all the pdf files required for Emailing ( 5 Minutes
each day average about 100 Files). The second step is to have each of
the analysts send out only their relevant pdfs files under their Email
Addresses. This is simple Outlook automation.
