Conversion Software

I am looking for conversion software for my 2007 PowerPoint. I would like
to convert PowerPoint presentations containg wmv. files and mp3. files to a
format that I can burn
to a DVD or web stream. I have tried the free downloads from Camtasia,
PowerPoint DVD Maker, Presenter Soft, Wondershare and PPonTV. None have been
able to load the video and music files correctly. My PowerPoint presentaion
is quite large a total of about 68 mb. Do you have software you can
recommend or a work around solution for my PowerPoint presentation.

Thank you

I use Camtasia Studio for those tasks. But PowerPoint and Camtasia both need
quite some RAM to produce good results. Some thoughts:
- Reduce the file size of your presentation (compress images or use images
with lower resolution, which will be sufficient for DVD)
- Split your presentation into some smaller ones, record shorter videos and
combine them in the end.
- Slow down animation speed and recording speed.
- Record the presentation without sound and video and add those later in
Camtasia.

Best regards,
Ute

Hi, I have struggled with this as well, and none of the software seems to
work well with video files.
My current workaround is to use screen recording software such as
ScreenRecorderPro. With this
you play the presentation in ppt and record the screen or window as an wmv
file. Then use your
DVD burner software to burn this file to DVD.
You need a powerful PC to use this method, and watch the screen resolution
as the wmv file will be
converted to one of the standard PAL/NTSC resolutions for burning.

You can try also VisiPPT by Visifly. I used it when I needed to
convert my PowerPoint presentation to wmv/avi. And after converting I
used Nero for burning my PPT onto DVD.

I have just tried VisiPPT and it does not seem to handle included avi files!
Have also logged the problem with Wondershare, but no solution for a week
now.

First of all you need to save it as powerpoint 2007 (pptx file) as 2003 (ppt
file)
Click File | Save As and choose 97-2003 Presentation from the "save as
type" list.
Or hover over SaveAs and choose PPT 97-2003 Presentation from the flyout
list on the right.

Then you can use Presentation To Video Converter
http://www.geovid.com/Presentation_to_Video_Converter/

This tool converts powerpoint to video, flash, animated GIF & burns to CD/DVD.

I would not recommend saving in 97-2003 format, as this will make the file
even larger. Is the Geovid Converter not able to handle PPTX files? Camtasia
works well with Vista and/or Office 2007.

Best regards,
Ute

Kim, I have just received(29/06/07) an updated version(3.10.3) of PPT2DVD
from Wondershare. This does seem to handle included avi files correctly. I
have not checked all other transitions and features, but so far this is the
only software that does what I need. I am also impressed with the technical
support and their ability to respond to problems by releasing an updated
version.
