I want to disallow access to the internet for an employee during office hours (8-5). Can this be done? From server or workstation? Workstation runs WIN2K. Server runs Small Business Server 2003 w/Exchange Server 2003

TIA

I'm not sure how to do the time related issue for blocking the internet. If
you do not want employees to use the internet, then why allow it out of
hours?

If a total block that only allows sites that you specify to be accessed,
then see if this MS article gives you what you want.

How to Configure Internet Explorer to Block Access to All But Approved
Internet Sites

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I'm not entirely certain on whether this applies to Win2K, but in an NT
environment the netAdmin has this option through the usermanager.

Select the account in question, and, in NT, there is an option to set
access times.

Well, Martin, this is a very special employee, my son, who
has a hard time staying off the net during office hours.
I want to let him have access at other times, including
weekends but don't want to have to be there to manually
turn it on and off. That's why I thought that maybe IE or
SBS 2003 would have a calendar/time based option to
restrict internet access.

From reading a Technet conversation, I looked into
gpedit.msc user configurations\Admin\Win components\ie\ie
control panel and investigated all the policies. None
refers specifically to what I need.

All looked into user config\ie maint\conn\conn settings.

I may actually have better luck with setting content
ratings.

If I'm ever able to do this, I'll share on the list.

Thanks for your thoughts. :)
