Controlling DNS query order in multiple network adapters

When my remote machines VPN back to the office, it comes difficult to
resolve the hostnames of the internal network since they are only known by
the office DNS server.

How do I explicit set Windows XP/2000 to query the VPN PPP adapter's DNS
servers rather than the primary network adapter's (ISP DNS servers)?

You cannot, but you can resolve the problem by adding the internal network
DNS servers to your primary network adapters TCP/IP configuration. The
internal DNS servers should be the first in the list on the primary adapter.
