Something is wrong, then, because you should have enough oomph to do this.
Try closing everything and rebooting. Then fire up PPT and see if you can
run the video using Insert/Object.
If not, close everything again, go to Start/Run and type msconfig Remove
everything from the startup and reboot to start up with nothing running in
the background. Try PPT and the video again.
It could be spyware or something like that sucking up resources, it could be
antivirus software, it could be antispyware software, for that matter.
Also, you might delete all *.TMP files, empty your Temporary Internet Files
folder, and then run a defrag.

Is there another way - I tried this but it said I didnt have enough memory.
I have WinXP Pro, 512 Ram, and using PPT 2003. The video clip is 40 megs
though, which I realize is quite large.
Thanks,
Karen

Use Insert/Object/From File, and PPT will call up your default video player
for that file type.

Is is possible to add a controller bar to a video clip that is
inserted
onto
a slide in powerpoint? If so, how is it done? I want to be able to
stop
the
slide show, and controll the video clip.
Thanks,
Karen
