I am using XP Pro and have all of the updates. I am having
a problem with my Control Panel. When I go
to 'Start' 'Control Panel' I get a list of all the feature
in the control panel but at least one option is missing
and I cannot change the view. can anyone please help me.
Happy Holidays and thank you,
George

Can you see the Category View option on the left side of the window? If not,
select Tools/Folder Options/General Tab. Under Tasks, select the "Show
common tasks in folders" option. Apply\OK.

You need the common tasks pane enabled to get the link for category view:
Folder Options> General. Click to place radio dot next to "Show common
tasks in folders."

If there is still no Category view in the left column of Control Panel,
click the Folders button in the Standard toolbar.

You may have the window in full screen mode. Press the F 11 key to return to
maximized mode. This should now display the toolbar at the top of the
window.

Doesn't work. When I click 'start' 'control panel' all is
a list similiar to the list I get when I click programs.
Actually I don't have to click, just hover.

George:

Thanks for the feedback.

Actually, I prefer it as a list.

Thankfully, Microsoft provided both options, and also a user interface in which to choose either one.
