Hi

Whenever I open the user accounts in the control panel I get a dialog
box with the message "Unspecified error". If I ignore this message and
click on one of the options (like :change an account") I get another
dialog box saying "object required".moreover i cannot see any of the
users on the list. does anybody know how to correct this?

I am using XP professional edition.

Not Enough Info.

What exactly does your event viewer report in the way of problems? Right
click My Computer, select Manage, expand the Event Viewer section, and look
at the reports for the 3 audited sections. Please be detailed with your
response.

The event viewer has not entries corresponding to this. I tried many
times and the event viewer does not report this event or the problem.
One more thing I noticed is that the "Users" section under computer
management does not display any users at all. it is blank

That is not at all good. That indicates that a policy template has been
corrupted, security is not being properly applied.

Can you restore to any point where they do show up?

I think I remember seeing a way to maybe repair the issue but I'd have to
research it, and I do remember that it was convoluted and I think it applied
to 2000 anyway. I'm going to have to bow out at this point, because my only
suggestion at this point is to try a repair installation using only the
original CD that was used to install Windows with (else a lockout could
occur). Maybe someone else has some other ideas to try.
