Control Panel Not Responding

Having entered Control Panel as administrator through Settings on the Start
Menu, I am getting a "Control Panel not responding" message and the end now?
option.

Therefore I am not able to perform any maintenance or administrative tasks.

Would be grateful for any advice on how to remedy

To repair all system files, go to Start/Run, and type:

SFC /SCANNOW
