Control Panel Locked Out

C

Casey

I have a computer that will not allow access to the
Control Panel and displays the message "This Operation has
been cancelled due to...". Further, the Control Panel is
even locked when logging onto the computer with the
administrator account!

Should I edit the registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
\Policies\Explorer and remove the "NoControlPanel" value??

Or is there a way to restore the administrator account on
that computer?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Hi Casey

This registry path indicates that this is being applied from a policy. You
should run a gpresult /z (WinXP) or gpresult /v (Win2K) to determine from
which policy the setting is being applied and edit it there.

Kind regards
