Hi all

Whenever I open the control panel crashes with an error "Windows Explorer

Piertonio,

Do you have any custom control panel applets installed? Try to remove them
one by one to see which one causes a crash.

I am having the same problem you are having. Can't get to Control Panel
because Windows Explorer keeps crashing.

Hey do have a Realtek audio card?? If you do, try deactivating it to see if
you can get to the control panel then. Go to Computer>System
properties>device manager, and turn it off. This is what i have tp do to get
to control panel. Hope it works

I'm not the one who asked, but thanks for this suggestion. I'd been having
CP problems for a month and even posting in this forum didn't solve it. I
had about given up. My CP didn't crash, but I got a message saying the
audio driver wasn't Vista compatible...but Realtek and Vista said it was.
The panel was sluggish, and clicking an icon produced the wrong applet (you
click programs, and get problem reports, etc.)

Disabling the Realtek worked. I checked realtek.tw and found a newly-added
driver, ver. 6243, and it seems to work OK now. Here I was thinking it was
an Nvidia problem. Thanks again.
