We've got a real similar sounding deal at our house.
Problem is I don't know if it's been that way from the
beginning because I don't use this machine very often.
CTRL, Win logo, ALT (both sides of space bar) do nothing. I
agree it's annoying. Uninstalled keyboard driver. Plugged
in different keyboard, same thing. Bought and installed USB
keyboard, same thing.
DOS boot, CTRL C works, ^C shows up. Command prompt from
Windows doesn't give the ^C.
Spent an hour on the phone with Sony tech. support before
they finally resorted to recommending system recovery. I
don't want to do that if at all possible. Suspect something
in the registry now. Have seen a possibility by searching
for ways to disable these keys.
Help please, thanks.

Yes, we tried that, too. We had a few different keyboards
here and I tried all of them. I've also looked at every
aspect of software settings and everything seems to be in
order. I am a strong user of keyboard shortcuts and find
it difficult to work without them. The Newsgroup was my
last hope. I'm not giving up.
