continuous LAN errors after power outtage

I have a Intel D875pbz board with built in LAN. My power was turned off in
error yesterday, but my UPS didn't shut down the system prior to power going
off. When power was back I could not connect to my LAN with my cable modem.
I keep receiving limited or no conectivity messages. I called comcast tech
support and we tired release and renew ip address in cmd but no luck. It
just won't connect. I went out a bought a new modem Motorola surfboard with
usb connection and it connected right away but still no conectivity with the
LAN.

Regrettably, the router we use for computer number two doesn't have usb
capability, so i can't set up the network this way.

What can I do to try and resolve the LAN connectivity issue. Everything
worked just fine before the power outtage and I did verify in device/hardware
manager that the LAN is functioning properly.

Thanks

Here's what I'd try:

1. In Device Manager, un-install and re-install the Ethernet adapter.

2. Type this line at a command prompt to reset TCP/IP:

netsh winsock reset catalog

3. Reboot.

If that doesn't fix the problem, consider buying and installing a new
Ethernet adapter.

Steve, if you could provide some more detailed instructions on what im
looking for to un-install and re-install it would be helpful. My ethernet
port is built in to my Intel d875pbz mother board. i found 1394 net adapter
under device manager and found the uninstall option, but need to know what to
do to reinstall it.

Thanks

The 1394 adapter isn't the right one. There should be an Ethernet
adapter under Network Adapters in Device Manager. Un-install the
Ethernet adapter if it's there.

To install devices, click Action | "Scan for hardware changes", or
just reboot.
