Continuous form carry forward value

I can create a button to sometimes carry forward value of prior record to new
record on a single form. But, I am trying to create a button to sometimes
carry forward values in a continuous form. All my attempts have een dismal
failures. Is it even possible to do this on a continuous form?
 
All the records, or just part of them?
Is it a subform?
You want to carry the values to a new record, or update an existing one?
