continueing search for A3 size scanner

For a few months now I've been trying to find a A3/legal size (17 x
11.5) scanner. I've come across the Mustek A3, but the whole world it
seems, including Mustek themselves, are sold out for the time being and
are on indefinite back order. I'm having to cancel my order because I
don't want to wait 2 more months, and am now trying to find out who
else, make, brand, model, etc I should be looking for, either online on
otherwise, or if someone knows a place that has the Mustek A3 (some
place that acutally has it, not just lists it in their catalog, cause
usually just means they have to order it from somewhere else).
I have so far the Fujitsu 5430c, and the Microtek Scanmaker 9800XL.
Anyone know of any others?

Yeah, I'm looking for under $300, which means the others I mentioned
besides the Mustek are also out, now that I've looked at the prices.

Hi-

I was just browsing when I noticed your post. The fi-5530C is an
excellent A3 Document Image Scanner.

Features:
-dual 600dpi (True Optical Resolution) color CCDs
dual reversable background references (allows for deskew & autocrop of
all documents rather than just ISO standard page sizes)
- onboard JPEG compression hardware ( allows the scanner to maintain
rated speeds when capturing in color)
- 3 forms of double feed detection - including the latest technology=
UltraSonic (to ensure that you don't skip capture of a document due to
a double-feed)
- Bundled with VRS ** Amazing technolgy**

and the list goes on

I'd be happy to demo the features live for you anytime

If you have any questions, feel free to call me at 408-746-7096 or
650-776-5082 cell

you can email me at (e-mail address removed)

for the cost, you can't find another scanner with comes close...

Hope this helps...

Is it a flat bed?
No.

Is it under $300?

No. It's not even under $3000.

I have no axe to grind, I'd like an economical flatbed A3 scanner that
delivers good quality colour too. Shame. I can't remember if anyone's
mentioned the Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB scanner yet. I have one at work.
It's flatbed and well under $300. Peculiar beast. Not good for colour, it
seems to have R, G and B slightly out of spatial phase with each other, and
yet for greyscale it works particularly well. Can't understand how that
works. /And/ its software is very good. ISTR it cost around £100 ($170 or
so?). I'd happily pay twice that if the colour plane misregistration could
be fixed.

What's your budget? Where I work we have some Ricoh MFPs, about the size
of a standard photocopier, that can scan A3 and even larger. However, I
imagine the cost exceeds €10000.

Tristan

The Mustek is what I want, but even Mustek themselves are all out for
the time being.

Good to know that the color isn't so good, but it looks like I have no
other choice, as the differences seem to be in the thou$ands.
