Continual Intrusion Detection

B

Bart Simpson

I am continually detecting intrusion detection from various IP address's,
some from an IP address in China, South America and an IP address in the
Netherlands, this over the course of maybe a week now.

I'm using Norton Personal Firewall 2004 and Mcaffe Viruscan Home
Edition(Both fully up to date) and windows 2000 Professional(Again fully
up-dated).

Anyone have an idea why this has just started, up to now this is the first
type of detection, that I have noticed.

Consider yourself lucky then .. most people have been seeing this for
months, if not years. Suggest you just go and 'eat your shorts', and not
worry about it.

If you put a cheap NAT router in front of the machine that cost as much as
Norton, then the O/S with Norton would not react to it period. And you
would not even notice this kind of traffic.

Are you new to a firewall or just finding out it keeps track of hits. I get
hundreds a night. Worry about the stuff the firewall can't stop. Secure
your computer the best you can.
