Continual Background Motion on a slide - Ideas?

I'd love to hear any ideas people have or have used for continual
motion in the background of a slide a la a lot of TV news broadcasts
and graphics. I would love to have a very subtle ghosted company logo
subtly move in the background or warp or something. So far, this is all
I seem to be able to come up with:

Animated GIF - chunky, with no real smooth fades
Shimmer Animation set to continuous until next slide- only works for
live text; not images or object boxes
Series of fade & motion effects applied and then repeated - effective,
but no way to loop infinitely
Custom show with repetition of single slides - hard to get smooth
transition in between repeat of effects

Anyone have other ideas?

A flash animation would be another idea. Flash animations usually play very
smoothly, BUT: You can insert it in the master, but you cannot make it play
in the background. This would be an option for an animated bar along one
side of the slide.

Rethink the idea of an animated background. Every continuous animation means
distraction and makes it harder for your audience to concentrate on the
contents of your presentation!

Kind regards,
