Content Controls Words Spill Over

When using the content controls (entering info on a template), the line
exceeds the size of the cell. Also, when the cell ends, the words typed in
on the end disappear. The content control box continues for a few letters
outside the cell then drops to the next line.

Also, the lines continue to drop beyond the bottom of the cell. IN other
words, using content control, I am not able to contain the words within the
area allowed for the response. And the content control causes some of the
information to be lost when it goes beyond the borders of the cells.

I did the protection and did not allow carriage returns, but that did not
solve the issue.

This is normal in Word. Placing content controls (or legacy form fields)
inside table cells with fixed dimensions will preserve the layout of your
document, but it doesn't prevent users from typing excessive data. The
assumption is that (most) users will realize that they have typed "too much"
and, consequently, stop typing, when they notice that text disappears.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate it.

Unfortunately, I was hoping for a solution. It seems we always need to make
things perfect so others don't have to give any thought to what they are
doing. THat being the case, the best I can do is give clear instructions to
use a return and stop typing when the words disappear.

Thanks, again.

Thank you for the follow-up. I think you are right: teaching users is the
best approach in the long run.

By the way, if you are using plain text content controls, users are
prevented from pressing Enter by default (this is controlled by the "Allow
carriage returns (multiple paragraphs)" option in the Content Control
Properties dialog box). But, of course, this doesn't help with excessive
text within a paragraph.
