Container

I use the [Shift][Enter] keys to get into the 'container mode' for a MDB
database.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it does not. It would go into the MDB instead.

Is there a better way of going into container mode?

What do you mean by "container mode"? Are you saying that if you don't hold
down the Shift key, it opens with a specific form (and perhaps doesn't have
all of the menus and the like), whereas if you do hold down the Shift key,
it opens "normally"?

Make sure you're holding the shift key down the entire time Access is
starting up. You could also try opening Access first, and selecting the file
through File | Open, holding down the shift key while you do.
