Container.dataitem ?

I was wondering if someone could give me some info on what this element
acutally is... I've used it tons when definining a templated column in a
datagrid within <%# %>, but don't really know where it lives, etc. From my
reading, it seems that "container" might have something to do with a
"NamingContainer", is this correct? Is this namingcontainer a way to grab a
handle to an object when there's no alternative available? And beyond that,
is "dataitem" a collection member of the mysterious Container object? Perhaps
someone could point me to a link with additional info? Thanks for any
assistance.

Container is an instance of RepeaterItemEventArgs, DataListItemEventArgs or
DataGridItemEventArgs I believe...
