-How do I get the program to display the list of my contacts to the left
under my "Local folders" list like it was in Outlook Express?

-How can I "turn on" the feature that autopopulates names that I am sending
an email to as it did in Outlook Express? Basically when I startede typing
a name from my contacts list it automatically filled in the rest of the
name.

Thanks very much.

Answer : you can't.

Answer : Windows Mail only remembers the last 29 names you had recently
used. If the name you want is not in the last 29 list, it can't
auto-complete the name/address. You will have to click TO, type the first
letter of the name in the box next to Find, and the list starting with that
letter will show up for you to choose.
You might want to consider installing Windows Live Mail which remembers ALL
the names in the contact list.

1. You can't display your contacts there.

2. Windows Mail auto-completes from a separate list of 29 addresses you type
in, not from your contacts. This list is stored in the registry.
To retrieve addresses from your contacts folder, click on the "To: " button.
To enable auto-complete...
Tools - Options - Send
[x] automatically complete e-mail addresses when composing

This is one of the features that works properly in the newer Windows Live
Mail.
