on left in Microsoft Outlook 2003. How can I get the Contacts folder to appear in the tree view on the left which includes such folders as Inbox; Sent Items; Deleted Items? Thanks.

You'll need to switch to the Folder View navigation pane. The Mail pane
shows only mail folders.

Are you displaying the Folder List or the Shortcuts list?

Look at the bottom of the left hand navigation pane. There should be buttons
there, one with a folder icon. WHen you hover over it, the tooltip "Folder
List" appears. That's the button you want to click.

Not possible to display both. You can display only one or the other.

Perhaps your Contacts folder has been renamed somehow. Try starting Outlook
with the /ResetFolderNames switch.

Nice thanks. I see it is either that or the shortcut menus at the top which I kind of liked. Can I go back to the way I had it and put that Contacts folder in the shortcut area? That I think would be the best all round as I currently use Outlook. Thanks

When you said "Shortcut lists" I thought you ment the tree view and the horizaontal small icons under that which I assumed is what you meant when you said the, "shortcuts list." After doing what Sue said above I see you are referring to what she had me do.

So no not both. I was showing what you referred to as "Folder list." And it was in that I wanted Contacts to appear. The same as Inbox; Sent Items; Outbox; Deleted Items. My view doesn't contain the Contacts folder but it does when I did what Sue suggested. But then the Shortcuts list at the top of the tree view...oh great now I cannot get that back. It's not a toggle I see.

The shortcut menus at the top of the nav pane are context-specific. You
cannot put a contacts folder into the Favorite Folders list on the mail
pane, only on the Shortcuts pane.

Sue how do I get back to what I had? I made thew change you suggested to see the Contacts folder and now cannot return to what I had. Thanks.

Forget it Sue it just decided to go back to the way I had it. Don't know how to do it on demand but oh well.
