Contacts Address Book

I've just re-set up Outlook 2002 on a new Laptop. In the Send - TO: box,
under 'Contacts Address Book', 'Contacts' is listed twice. The first item is
apparently blank - nothing is listed in the 'To' list. The second item is
OK, & I get a full listing out of my Contacts folder.

How do I get rid off the first, erroneous mention of 'Contacts'?

Just remove it here: Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing
directories or address books > Outlook Address Book > Change.

Hey Bob

1. Open the Address Book in Outlook
2. Go to the Tools menu and Options in the Address Book
3. Under "When sending mails, Check names using these address lists in
the following order", you will have two contacts folder listed.
4. Remove the contacts folder that does not contain any addresses.
5. Under "Show this list first", select the contact folders that
contain your addresses
This should get rid of the contacts folder that does not have any
addresses

Use the method I posted instead. Invalid entries often do not appear in the
dialog you are recommending and so cannot be removed.

Meaningless exercise:
1. User cannot try both methods at the same time.
2. If the corrupt, outdated reference to a Contacts Folder appears in Tools
Options..., then of course it can be removed there. The problem is that it
often doesn't appear there. It will always appear in the path I specified.
