Contact email address display as

Talltwat

Hi group

Is it really true that if I want to change the Email address "Display
As" in my contacts to firstname lastname I have to change every
contact manually?

Is there really no global setting or routine I can run to make the
changes for me.

I have over 1000 contacts!

It's true. The field is of so little consequence, I've never seen anyone
make a convincing case for the need to make global changes to it. Just
curious. What are you trying to achieve that makes you need to?

Hi

It's my sent items. I've got a lot that I don't want to delete and for
some reason the external recipients used to display with names in the
To field, but for the last few months they have been displaying as
email addresses. It would be simpler for me to be able to sort them
using the To field and have them displayed as names.

Why not just customize the view to sort on the field you want?

thanks for the discussion on this. I too am having similar difficulty.

I highly dissagree that this is of small consequence. When an Outlook user
not connected to an Exchange server is sending mail to multiple addresses, it
looks professional to have a uniform look to all those folks in your TO:
line.

The convincing argument to me is that someone made the request. Therefore
the technology professionals should dig up a solution rather than dismiss the
request as insignificant.

For me this is highly frustrating and I too hope someone solves the problem.
To add a bit of context, the display name I'm looking for is First, Last and
email in parrens. Often times when you delete the prefilled text, OL
replaces the text with Last comma First. I would settle for all one way or
all another. Not a mixture of the three.

There must be a setting for that somewhere. Right?
