Consumers Reports Security Software Evaluations, Sept. 07

Those with a subscription to Consumers Reports might be interested in the
September, 2007, online edition which rates:

Security software suites
Antivirus software
Antispyware software
Antispam software

For those without a subscription, I can tell you that Windows Defender came
in as a "Quick Pick" by the editors, undoubtedly in large part due to it's
price point... although overall it was ranked at the mid point of their
charts. What was interesting to me was the list of software that they
ranked lower than Defender, some of it paid by subscription. You can take
a look at that portion of their site which is open for general security
recommendations, (but not the for subscribers only software ranking charts)

If I were to do that with their list my head might be in a noose for
copyright infringement. Lets just say that Trend Micro did amazingly well
throughout the testing with their PC-cillin security suite including it's
Anti-spyware module.
