I am having constant disk corruption issues, and I have cross posted because
I am desperate. I was running the following:

ASUS P4SDX w/P4 2.6GHz CPU
Kingston 512MB 333MHz RAM
WD 160GB HDD (made four primary partitions)
Part 1: Win2k 50GB (FAT32)
Part 2: Win2kAS 15GB (NTFS)
Part 3: Win98 SE 20GB (FAT32)
Part 4: Data 80GB (FAT32)
nVidia GeForce4 Ti 4800SE GPU

I have been getting corruption on primary partition 4 which creates constant
CHK files, but also part 1 (when booted into win2k) randomly. When I get
corruption on the OS partition 1, for example, the entire partition is
trashed and files are jumbled and all data is lost. See attached pic. This
renames the files to gibberish, makes the files unaccessable, and makes the
system unbootable. It seems every time I reboot, the system finds corrupt
files on the LAST partition, partition 4, which it feels it needs to convert
to chk files.

I first replaced the HDD from a WD to a Hitachi of 180GB, but still had
corruption.
I then replaced the 512 MB memory with a different brand and still had the
same level of corruption.
I then replaced the MB with an ASUS P4P800 and still had the same level and
type of corruption.

All that remains unreplaced is the GPU and the CPU.

Is it possible I could have a bad CPU? Could the video card, GPU, be
causing any corruption?
I was offered the possibility that the data is somehow corrupt and causing
the ongoing corruption. Is this possible? Does this sound like a virus?
BTW, after every OS system crash, I need to reinstall the entire system, so
I have become good at restoring Ghost Images.

Desperation is no reason to multi-post. Cross-post when necessary, but never
multi-post. Cross-posting is when you include two or more groups in the
"Newsgroups:" section. In this scenario the message and all responses are
seen in all groups that the message was cross-posted to. In other words any
replies will automatically propagate to the other newsgroup posts.

Multi-posting is when you post the same message to two or more groups
individually. In this scenario the message is seen in the groups it is
posted to, but the responses are only seen attached to the message (unless
you cross-post the reply) in which the response was made. So those that
frequent these groups then need to deal with or re-read the posts. It may
seem like a small thing to keep track of. But some of us actively traverse
50 or more groups. The poster also then must search out all of the posts to
see if there was a response.
