Consolidating data

I have 4 relavent fields in my spreadsheet. Columns A and C represent some time frame (ie 1,3, or 6 months). B and D contain profit expected during that time frame. However for various rows, the values in columns A and C are not consistant (ie 3 Months could be column C in row 1 and column A in row two) I am looking to consolidate the values in columns B and D whose time frame is the same to get all expected profit for a given time period .

Example:

Data:
1M - $500 - 3M - $750
3M - $750 - 6M - $1000

Output:

1M - $500
3M - $1500
6M - $1000

Any ideas?

Stephen,

First get all the stuff into two columns. To do that, Cut/Paste cols 3 and 4
under 1 and 2. Now make a pivot table.
