consolidate multiple distribution lists

Hello,

Does anyone know how to consolidate several distribution lists into one
list? I have about 10 lists that I would like to consolidate into 1 but
Outlook will not allow me to copy and paste the names. There are also no
import/export options etc.

Thanks.

One must wonder why you would ever want to do so. DL's are a poor choice for
grouping Contacts. They have no features (such as consolidating lists), are
buggy and unreliable. I would never expect one that includes 10 other DL's
to work. If you feel the need, you can certainly nest DL's by inserting one
into another. Good luck with that.

I have tried nesting and it worked before but doesn't now - I saw your
suggestion about using a mail merge - I can create and save a mail merge but
how do you make sure that you have the most recent data witout starting from
scratch each time?

I don't understand your question. Contact data is dynamic and so by
definition it is always updated.

thanks for the quick response -

when doing a mail merge there are three parts (creating a form, creating the
database/list, final merged document). when I create the database it is a
snapshot of the contact fields as they currently exist. if anything changes I
am forced to create a new version.

my question is - how do you/can you get that data base to update
(dynamically link?) so that the info is always current?

Still not clear what you mean. When you use an Outlook Contacts Folder as
your data source, it will always contain the updated information.
