I'm using MCE 2005 and an application called mymovies to manage and view
my ripped DVDs.
All my movies are stored on a NAS and are accessed through
\\servername\share (not mounted).
When I stop the movie the connection to the NAS is kept open and stops the
NAS from going into hibernation (and stay quiet) - very annoying. I asked
the developer of the my movies application and he responded:
The .NET Framework does not have the option to "close" a folder, so this
must be something within Windows internally.
Is there a setting that would allow this connection to time out say after
10 minutes without activity?
If I stop the MCE the NAS goes quiet
MCE is a bit weird that way, you never really quit the applications, you
just switch to another one so I guess the application is still running in
the background.
