Please, I don't understand what happens with this issue.

I few days ago to date when I try to connect to internet,
(I use a 56K modem and dial up service) I get to connect,
but in an few seconds, While I try to load some web
sites, I got White pages (Page Not found) and the
connection get lost. And I get the follow pop window
message without error code: "Network
connections". "Link to (my name's connection/ISP
provider) failed. Reconnect pending..." And It's trying
to connect again but the option "more information"
doesn't show any response about this issue.

I've tried changing modem, re-installation Windows XP,
Scan about virus, spywares, I test on 2 hard disks, etc.
Cable connections, I asked assistance to my ISP provider
and I get nothing.
On the forums, almost nobody got this problem, it's not
common, but it happens. What can I do?

I have an Celeron 1.1, 128 MB Ram, and Windows XP home
edition like OS.

Thanks for your response to my email: (e-mail address removed)

Please, Help me.

I think the problem is a internet traffic related one.

Go to start up then to settings, then internet settings. Double click your ISP(internet service provider) icon. Then cange the last dial number to a 1.

This will, if it works(and hey it's better then nothing), it will give you a slow connection but it is because of the heavy internet traffic. If it doesn't work then change it to the default number supplied by your ISP again and that will ensure that when you do get it up-and-running your connection speed will be the default one not the slow one.

Thanks for your help,

I'm going to try with this solution to the problem, but
let me to tell you something, it's the same connection,
the same line, on the same home (my house), the same
account on ISP and the same number to connect, and I
tried with other computer with the same OS Windows XP
Home edition , and this machine runs good, the internet
connection keep itself correct and I can see pages on the
internet explorer. But the problem it's only with this
other computer in question. And I've already tried, to
get slow down the modem speed connection defaults to 56K
36K, 20K, etc. and so on, but nothing, the same problem.
The message it's so weird! Anyway, I'm going to try it
and I'll let you know how it was. Thanks in advanced.

Hi again,

I tried the solution that you gave me, and nothing
happened.

I sent this computer to a computer service repair, and
the tecnician got the same conclusion than I was
thinking. The mainboard!. I don't know more explanations
but, can you think if the mainboard (some chip, or some
electricity shortcut) could make a damage only on the
connections ports and I can't get to connect to internet
on my software, no matter what OS I has installed?
Can a phisic damage origin a software damage only in this
section: connections network? because the mainboard runs
good on everything (programs, typing, processor, memory,
etc.). Why the system (windows XP) can't be more
specifical whit this problem and show the respective
error code to know how to make a good diagnosis?

Thanks for your help.
