I have a wireless network at my office with a wireless connection to the
internet via a D-Link router. I also have a wireless internet connection at
home. All computers are using Windows XP, SP2. What is the best / easiest
way for me to see my office network from home? Should I try to use remote
desktop connection?

If you just want to access your personal desktop at work then Remote Desktop
(RDP) is a good choice if the office PC is running XP Pro. The office PC is
running XP Pro, right? See this page for basic help with RDP...

Is the office network running a server of any type that is offering domain
services? Have you checked with the office network administrators to see if
it is ok for you to connect to the trusted office network from an untrusted
PC (ie. your home PC)?

You also might look into a VPN if you need access to the whole network,
servers, files, etc.

I guess you just need to explain what you want to accomplish...

Let me try to explain better. I have two computers at the office. I guess
that I am the network administrator. The two computers are a desktop running
Windows XP Pro SP2 and a laptop also running XP Pro SP2. Both can connect to
the internet via a wireless connection (a D-Link router hooked up with my DSL
line) and can see each other's drives via that same connection.

I want to be able to take my laptop home and be able to still access the
desktop's hard drive. Remote access seems to be like PC Anywhere (it will be
like I am on the desktop, but at home). I do not care about seeing the
desktop's screen (although if that is the only way to make this work it is
OK). What I really want is to be able to access the desktops hard drive from
home and any printers attached to it.

Thanks.

Remote Desktop will allow you to both access the remote PC (ie. the work PC)
hard drives and printer(s) local to that PC and your local (ie. laptop) hard
drives and printer(s) local to that PC. All of that is setup in the
Options -> Local Resources tab.

Just make sure you use a "STRONG" password or run RDP through a VPN or SSH
tunnel for added security... Here is how I do SSH and RDP....

File access only through a SSH tunnel using the SSH File Transfer Protocol
(SFTP) and the WinSCP client...
