Connecting to an existing dialup network

I have just changed my very old Win98 laptop with a new Vista home laptop. I
am on a dialup network which connects to a broadband router. When I plug in
my ethernet cable my pc does recognise the network and doesn't allow me
access to the internet. Any Ideas?

Hi Howeig

Most routers have to be setup to allow access by any computer on the
network, normally it requires an I.P and MAC Address.

If you open I.E and access your router control panel, you should find setups
for I.P and MAC Address. You will then need to enter the respective
addresses of your new Vista Laptop.

Depending on your router the control panel access can be found at something
like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1.

I hope this helps

Regards
Stuart
