connecting to 2 different networks

I have a computer (windows 2000) that is connected to a local area
network. The LAN has ADSL and the internet works just fine. However
sometimes I have to dial into another network to access information.
When I am connected to the dialup network I can not access the
internet. I can only access webpages and info that is available
through the dialup network. Is there a way to use the internet and the
dialup network at the same time?

1. It is that way on purpose. It is supposed to be that way.

2. You can change it by disabling "use gateway on remote network" in your
dialup connection settings. However this limits the dialup connection to
the one subnet that it directly dialed into,..if any remote resources exist
an a different subnet on the remote LAN they will become unreachable.
