Connecting PC to my TV

P

Pinger

I have a Samsung DLP HDTV and it allows for PC use, I bought a good 25' SVGA
cable and and wye to split the connection coming out of the PC (one for the
PC monitor and one to the TV.. The picture on the monitor really sucks when
the two are connected and the TV says wrong format, when I disconnect the PC
monitor the tv works great but when reconnecting it loses the picture, I
take it my GeForce dell 32mb video card is not up to the task.. Questions if
you can please answer...

1. Has anyone else tried this??

2. Is a 25' run of svga cable too much for most video cards?? (Do I need
some kind of signal booster??)

3. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated..

32MB may be your problem.
I do this with SVideo and composie on several machines without issue.

Due to cross-talk and other high freq. effects, a 25' VGA cable is too long ! by about 20'.

Dont think u can split signal cause TV r PAl/FTSB format.
That's why they make vcards with TV-OUT. U need to remod
signal. 128MB vcrds with tv-out r <$100 - ATI chips r
better for casual users. Get AGP/SuperPCI(newest).

The TV has the appropriate DB15 and probably DVI inputs so no remod(ulation)
is necessary.
"PAl/FTSB" should read "PAL/NTSC". PAL stands for Phase Alternating Line
where Chroma = Ucos(t) +/- Vsin(t). NTSC stands for National Television
System Committee.

I dont know much but noted he said 'when the two are
connected and the TV says wrong format'. something is amuck
here - could he have plugged PC into wrong TV input?

HDTV is definitely on my shopping list since all signals
will be HD soon & I'll have to buy conversion box for $?
then!!

Thanks- bye- Larry
