i have a 2 year old Dell, running win xp. i've connected it to a cable modem
and added a Dlink and a new Netgear networking card to the old Quantex
computer. i run the program, pop in the old SE disc, get all the drivers
loaded, so i think and the old computer still will not connect. all my son
needs to do with his computer is simply plug it in to the DLink and it works.
he has a very new snazzy, Dell laptop for college. so, what thoughts can
anyone share (besides going out to buy a new computer) can you help me get
these computers networked? it shouldn't be this hard. don't think i need
to 'reseat' the card but could. --

In general make sure the win98 hostname is unique, while the workgroup
name should be the same as the other PC's.

Make sure netbios over tcp is installed..
