Hello,

Is there some hardware that allows me to connect a laptop harddisk to
a PC IDE interface? What is the name of the thing? I need to get it.

It's just an electrical adapter and you can get it at zipzoomfly.com
or similar places. Typing

2.5" 3.5" disk adapter

into froogle.com gets a zillion hits.
