Hello everyone,

My problem is as follows. I have shared a folder on my system, it is only
accessible to a specific user, say 'dummy'. When 'dummy' logs in, the share
can be accessed appropriately. The problem arrises when I log in on a
different account. Since I don't have permissions for this share, I expect
to get a connect as dialog in explorer, so I can enter the 'dummy' username
and password. I have looked everywhere, but cannot find why this dialog
doesn't appear.

This might be of use:
- the guest account is disabled
- 'dummy' is the only one in the permissions of the shared network folder
- simple file sharing is disabled
- when i login as 'dummy' I do get access to the network share
- when i use the 'net use' command for the share, with the 'dummy' username
and password it does work when logged in as another user

Could anyone please help me?

Thanks,
Vincent

Vincent,

http://www.michna.com/kb/wxnet.htm contains a chapter about the
"Connect as" dialog. Perhaps the solution is in there.
