conflicts with platforms and server

I have networked two windows 98 with a windows 2000 server
and run into a lot of problems with winfax locking up, the
ACT program showing errors,internet graphics not appearing
even with the box checked to show graphics. I am wondering
if I were to upgrade to windows 2000 platformn would that
solve many of my problems?
