of F1 or Del key.

You haven't given us much information here. However, if I understand
your post correctly, the error appears before the operating system is
even loaded. That means you have hardware problems. Is this a homebuilt
system? You've probably got something connected incorrectly. Strip the
system down to the motherboard, floppy drive (if the box won't boot
without a floppy, otherwise, leave it off) and a video card. Test. Then
add one more item, like one hard drive. Test. Then add one more item,
like a cd-rom drive. Test. Etc. If you want more help, repost with a
better description of your problem, the computer, if your system ever
worked, what changed if it did, etc.

Not much to go one Richard, but did you just add a card that's set to an
IRQ or did your bios maybe go to default and is now enabling a port you
had previously disabled in the
past for lets say for example, your modem card.

Nothing has been added. Only Norton updates.
Additions to NAV won't matter because that is above the operating system
level. From the information you provided, your problems are occurring
before the operating system even gets loaded. This means hardware. If
diagnosing hardware isn't your thing - and it isn't particularly easy -
then take the machine to a good local repair shop (not a BestBuy or
CompUSA type of store) for testing.
