Confliction secured databases

I have 6 users in this department using a shared folder on our network only
we can get into. I have designed a DB for us to use in the office and am
trying to add security to it by following the steps in jmwilds step by step
instructions http://www.jmwild.com/security02.htm and I am using Access
2002. When I get to step 12 and try to open my unsecured database I get the
not allowed to do anything message, I hit ok and it closes. I know for a
fact another user who has a secured DB on another shared folder I also have
rights to. I have done this a few times and ran through dozens of other
solutions on how to follow the steps perfectly and have done so. At this
point I am asking if it could be possible that an improperly secured DB on
that second shared folder could cause a conflict? Its workgroup file has a
far different name than the one I had created and he has no rights to the
shared folder I have mine in.

The other db in the second shared folder is not likely causing a conflict.

The key here is that you need to check what mdw you are joined to by
default. Open Access (you don't have to open a db at this point), and go to
Tools, Security, Workgroup Administrator. It will open and tell you what
mdw you are joined to by default. If you are following the steps at my
site, you'll want to be joined to the secure mdw that you created in step 3.
If you aren't, then click on Join and join that workgroup.

Now when you open your mdb (that you want to secure), you should be prompted
for a username/password - enter the username you created in step 7 (the
password will be blank).

Actually I might have found something else. Previously I had played with
security a bit and muddle some things up. Now my DB has <Unknown> as the
owner and in various objects as well as admin(user) as owner of some other
objects and admins(group) on others still. So I am in the process of
recreating the DB from default and using your steps which worked with an
offline test DB I did using the same information. I'll respond tomorrow with
my results.
