Is there a way to find out if Windows XP was activated?
I just had to setup a new Gateway PC with XP Home version and I told it to
register to both Gateway and Microsoft but I did not get any screen that told
me everything went through OK.

You can open the Windows Product Activation wizard by
clicking Start, then Run, and type in: oobe/msoobe /a , then hit enter.

On a new OEM computer like Gateway, you do not have to activate. The
activation has already been done by Gateway. What you did was register with
Gateway and Microsoft and neither are mandatory with the Gateway
registration being more important than the MS registration. You will not get
an activation confirmation screen when you register.
