I am attempting to configure my laptop for my LAN.
Directions from the Microsoft website tell me to go to
Start, Setting, then Network and Dial-up Connection. I am
then supposed to select and double click on Local Area
Connection icon, but the icon is not there. How do I get
the icon to appear? (Windows 2000) Thanks.

Hello Michael,

If the Local Area Connection is not appearing then it is more than likely
the drivers
might not have been correctly loaded for the NIC.

So check within Device Manager and then verify under Network Adapters if the
card
shows up with a yellow exclamation sign. If it does then you will need to
update the drivers
by finding out what the make and model is for the NIC and obtaining the
drivers
either from your computer manufacturer or the NIC manufacturer.

Hope that helps!
