configuring monitor properties

Hi there.
I recently upgraded to windows XP and installed a better
graphics card. Everytime I start up the computer, I must
set the screen display properties from a default of 800 x
600 to the 1024 x 768 to get 32 bit color. Is there
anyway to make this the default setting so I don't have
to do this each time I start up. And...if I do this,
will it be the default setting for all users (my kids)
with profiles on this machine?
thanks for help.

1 - update your video card drivers to xp compatable drivers from the cards
website.
2 - depends on the card, most use one resolution for all, but some can have
different resolutions as well.

Are you sure that someone hasn't used the system in between your using those
settings, and changed them? Resolution and Color Depth settings are the
same for ALL users. So, if one of your children changes the setting in
their profile back to 800x600, then yours will also be reset to that
resolution. If your children haven't reset the resolution in THEIR user
profiles in between your sessions, then try going to the web site of maker
of your new Display Adapter and download and install the latest Windows XP
compatible driver.

One would think he did put the XP drivers in that came with the card.
However, I agree
the drivers on the cd are often not the best ones eg in the rush to put
the card out
the cd was made and the drivers were perfected aka finished later.

Or, maybe the OP is like me, ie my idea of an upgraded card is one I got
free from somebody elses upgrade with no disk at all :)
