Would this be a good configuration?
I'm not such an expert but since my pc is acting crazy lately and last
time i had to spend an hour before it would boot i want to get myself
a new PC a.s.a.p.

Ik ben niet echt een expert hierin, maar omdat m'n pc nogal vreemd doet
de laatste tijd en ik de laatste keer een uur bezig was voor ie opstarte
wil ik z.s.m. een nieuwe.

CONFIGURATION:
4x 512MB PC3200 DDR, CL3 (Kingston KVR400X64C3/512)
1x Acer AL1722hs (17", 8ms, D-sub/DVI-D)
1x AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice (S939, 2.0GHz, 512KB, Boxed)
1x Antec SL450, 450W (ATX)
1x Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, nForce4 SLI (Sound, LAN, SATA II-RAID, 1394)
1x Creative SoundBlaster Live 5.1
1x Lite-On SOHW-1673S 16x (Retail, Dual-Layer)
1x Logitech Cordless Desktop MX3100
1x Maxtor DiamondMax 10, 200GB (7200rpm, SATA, 8MB, NCQ)

the graphics you have chosen seem slightly poor?

do you plan to upgrade to SLi when the new GeForce 7800 cards come out or
something?

Well, i do not need the greatest graphics, i think this will do fine
(for now), plus i need the configuration to fit in my budget. It will be
a huge improvement in comparison to what i have now :)

My reccomendations are...

get a different motherboard, the asus board is a gaming board, as its
equipped with SLi

I would go for

Gigabyte K8NF-9

this board will be cheaper and it is a solid performer according to reviews
and I have used this board in a few builds myself and they seem great. it is
a sky939 board comes with several standard PCI slots and 2 PCI-E x1 slots
and one PCI-E x16 slot

it is equipped with USB 2.0 and firewire 1394b as well as SATA and normal
IDE, just a reccomendation, google for it, see what you think, this board
price is about £80 max.

this might free up a bit cash and fit your budget better, might allow you to
go for a PCI-E GeForce 6200 gfx card, if you want that is, or you could
stick with the 5200 PCI card and save more money.

the asus board you have above is a great board dont get me wrong, but if
your not looking for gaming then a cheaper board would be a better choice if
your on a budget and the Gigabyte K8NF-9 would allow for some future
upgradability, in terms of PCI-E graphics and socket 939 processors etc. its
standard now that the board supports 184-pin DDR memory.

4 memory modules can be difficult to keep stable with
budget-grade memory... it often depends on the motherboard
and I can't advise on that particular board (suitability).

You might find it better to get two 1GB memory modules,
CAS2.5. Then if you still need to run them at CAS3 to keep
them stable, you have extra margin, and if you don't (have
to use CAS3), you get more performance. IMO, CAS3 is only a
good idea when the memory is heavily discounted, when they
practically give it to you after rebates and any related
compromises are offset by the low cost.
