Hello,

Please don't laugh but....My user needs to have me install
a DOS based program from 1987(!!!) on a Win2K machine
(from 5 1/4 floppies of all things!). (And, from a DOS
window.) Anyway, the installation seems to proceed ok
until I get the message "Config.des file cannot be found"
(and, yes, that's .des, not .dos) and then the program
doesn't install. I can't find any reference online to a
config.des file. There is no upgraded version of this
program. The user had been using this on a DOS 6.2
machine with 16 MB of ram, etc...20 yr old machine - until
that finally died a couple of days ago.

See? This is why upgrading is important!!! Anyway - any
help would be appreciated! Thank you!

If you can't find this file on the user's 20MB hard drive ;) I don't think
you are gonnna find it anywhere.
Considering that this file does not seem to exist in the real world, is it
possible that the app is wrong? Try copying config.dos and renaming it to
config.des.

Don't laugh, but can't you find an old machine on which you can install
DOS 6.2 :-)

That "Config.DES" file may be on the install disk and would contain
items to be merged with the "config.sys" file OR may only be read during
the install. Anyway you will need to poke around a bit(read the bat
files) and figure out how the "install" progresses and the files it
places statments in.
