Conditonal Formatting Hyperlinks

Hi all,

I'm using a Dataview webpart to show the status of an item.
The text of the status has conditional formatting applied to it to turn it
red when it becomes overdue.
My problem is that I also want it to be a hyperlink to the status history
page, but as soon as i make it a hyplerink the conditional formatting is
lost. It's still there in the toolpane and source view, but it dosn't apply
to the text anymore.

Is there a way to do this?
