is there a way to name a range for a formula by using conditions

Like lets say i had a column:

a
c
a
b
a
c
c
b
a
a
a
b
a
c

to the right of every letter is a number. If there is more than one
above the a b and need to add the values to thier right and delete on
of the a's rows

any Ideas

Hi
not quite sure I understood you. You may post an example set of data
(also in plain text) with some values in column B and your expected
result

i need to add any duplicate entries for any given client here is
sample of what i start out with.

CLIENT 1 BEEF 34
PORK 27
CHICKEN 91
BEEF 9
TOTAL TRANSACTIONS 161
CLIENT 2 PORK 25
CHICKEN 3
CHICKEN 11
BEEF 1
TOTAL TRANSACTIONS 40
CLEINT 3 PORK 25
BEEF 3
BEEF 11
BEEF 1
TOTAL TRANSACTIONS 40

Here is what I need to end up with.

CLIENT 1 BEEF 43
PORK 27
CHICKEN 91
TOTAL TRANSACTIONS 161
CLIENT 2 PORK 25
CHICKEN 14
BEEF 1
TOTAL TRANSACTIONS 40
CLEINT 3 PORK 25
BEEF 15
TOTAL TRANSACTIONS 4
