Hello all,

I would like to do a conditional formatting in which if value in Column C =
"IN", then change the color of that particular row to yellow.

I tried to create a formula as =C:C="IN", but it doenst work.

Any expert advice?

I'm not an expert, but click on cell A1 and in Conditional Formating formula
enter =A1="IN"
Change A1 to the cell reference where you require the formatting.

Sorry, not only am I not an expert but I can't read either !!
Try again: In C1 Conditional Formating enter =$C1="IN" copy across colums
and copy down rows as required.

Hello there

Wondering if you can help.

I have problem with worksheet at work. Running 2003. I have in some cells
formula with if and hlookup. It picks up colour in cell pending answer. IE
if comes back due then cell says due and changes to yellow if expired then
expired returns and cell changes to red. THese have been set up for some
time.
I have had to add new columns and rows. In the new ones they are changing
to due and expired but not picking up colours. I have looked into
conditional formatting but it is blocked and I cannot select it.

Can you advise something please.

Also if can help. I can't merge cells on the new ones I have added. I have
checked and the worksheet is not locked.

If you've checked that the worksheet is not protected, I'm not sure what your
problem might be. A couple of ideas (that you may not have tried?) to narrow
down the cause:
Try 'copy and paste' 'format' from a cell with formatiing to one of your new
cells. Does the formatting work?
Try copying the complete worksheet to a new blank worksheet - can you gain
access to the Conditional formatting or merge the cells?

Yes I have tried a copy and paste. Still does not pick up changes I have
also tried paste special with a few different options. Tried the whole
worksheet as well. I am stumped as to why the old columns work but the new
columns don't. The merge cell has got me beat. I think I might try copying
the work sheet into 2007 and trying a few options then taking it back to
2003. Do you think that could help?
