Conditional formatting

I am trying to apply conditional formatting with VBA to cells that already
contain a formula. Basically, if the conditional evaluated was true, a 1 is
put in the cell. Now I want to apply conditional formatting to highlight all
the cells with a 1 to make them stand out more. I've been able to apply the
formatting but it is not reading the cell value as one, assumably because it
contains a formula. If I type over the formula and place a 1 in a cell, the
cell immediately highlights. Is there a way to do this with an existing
formula? I know one can use a formula with a conditional formatting, but
I've had so much trouble getting this formula right, I don't want to insert
it this way.

I wouldn't give up on Conditional Formatting just because you had
trouble with it. See if this helps you (read the blue print in the box).

But Conditional Formatting is not going to change the value
in a cell. You can use a worksheet formula on the worksheet
to get a better idea of what you are creating. 1 = True,
everything else is False.
