Hi,

Not so much a technical issue, more of a blinkin' annoyance!

In conditional formatting I click on 'formula' in the drop-down list.
Next to it I have the formula.

Now, let's say I wanted to amend that formula. I click in the middl
of it, change it, then move my cursor along to change something else.

It doesn't move the cursor along, it adds the the cell range from th
worksheet. Aaaarrrrgh!!! It's really frustrating. I should hav
gotten used to it by now but it still gets me.

Is there a key combo I can use along with the cursor keys to move th
cursor along, or will that always be the way in conditiona
formatting?!?

Any thoughts would be very much welcomed, thank you.

Hi

the bad news is that it's not only in conditional formatting that this
happens -as far as i can tell the problem exists if you use the cursor keys
in any dialog box (insert / name / define is always the one i have problems
with).

I'm going to keep checking this thread to see if there's a "solution" too.

Julie,
Try pressing the "F2" key first.

Julie,
Well...the F2 works for me but the F8 key doesn't.

Hi Jim

does the F2 toggle the EXT on & off as well?
...what version of excel (although i doubt it would change between versions)

Hi

Click on formula, then press <F2> key. this should allow
you to edit without irritation.

See how you go...

Hi Again Julie,

Lets go back to the beginning...
You stated:
"if you use the cursor keys in any dialog box
(insert / name / define is always the one i have problems with)."

So, in the Insert | Name | Define dialog box, _
in the "Refers to" entry box...
If you click in the box and try to use the arrow keys, things get messed up.
If you click in the box, press the F2 key, then you can use the arrow keys.

That's all I was talking about.
Oh, and I am using Excel 97 this morning.

Down on the status bar you will see "Edit", "Enter" or "Point" depending what
mode you are in.

Hit F2 until you see "Edit". Now you can use the arrow keys to navigate
within the formula.

Hello!

Yes, F2 works... which makes my life working with Conditiona
Formatting that little bit more peachy!

Thanks very much for your responses.
